Synopsis and Actor Information
The Committee
Meeting
by Joellen K Bland - Directed by
Kirsten Hambleton
Sue & her committee get together to plan
a church dinner/meeting. As she attempts to guide the discussion
– frequently using a whistle to restore order – the others
prattle, complain, preach and agree with almost everything. They
willingly offer comments and suggestions, but when asked to take
responsibility, each has a prompt excuse for not accepting and
then volunteers the time and talent of someone else.
Seeking:
Desire, Desire, Desire
by Christopher Durang -
Directed by Tom Peterson
Another Tennessee Williams parody, from
the author of FOR WHOM THE SOUTHERN BELLE TOLLS. Blanche DuBois,
her nerves shot, is stuck in a house with a slobby Stanley
Kowalski, who keeps yelling "Stella!." Stella left for a lemon
Coke six years ago and never returned. Blanche tries to seduce a
young census taker, but is interrupted by Big Daddy and Maggie
from CAT ON A HOT TIN ROOF. A "tart" from ICEMAN COMETH shows up
as well. Stella comes back briefly, but departs again, leaving
Blanche and Stanley stuck together for eternity.
Seeking:
No Shoulder by
Nina Shengold - Directed by Shelley Smith
A surreal late-night
encounter between a childless widow and a teenage hitchhiker,
who have far more in common than either imagines.
Seeking:
- 2 females – one late
30s, the other late teens
Rose Beds
by Jeannine Coulombe -
Directed by Jeannine Coulombe
The couple encounter each other in a
public place, once a cemetery, and enter into a dispute about
rose bushes and photography.
Seeking:
The Siren Song of Stephen
Jay Gould by Benjamin Bettenbender - Directed by Kirsten
Hambleton
A man lands on a woman after trying to
throw himself off a bridge in a botched suicide attempt. On the
quiet riverbank, as he attends to her minor injury, he learns
that she too was planning to end her life over a broken heart.
An argument ensues over the relative seriousness of their
respective losses, the nature of existence, and the harmful
effects of the essays of biologist Stephen Jay Gould. Will this
unexpected collision lead each of them back to the dark place
where they started, or will they start anew?
